A slim mesh cage for 39 W ProT5 and T5 HO lights mounted inside your enclosure, so climbing and coiling animals cannot touch the lamp. It lets about 85% of the light through and works with LumenIZE fixtures.

Why use a guard
A light mounted inside the cage is closer to your animal and loses nothing to a screen top, which is why we fit lights inside our PVC enclosures. The catch is that snakes, geckos, chameleons, and frogs can often reach it by climbing décor, backgrounds, or cables, and a snake may coil around a bare fixture. A guard keeps the animal off the lamp and keeps the lamp safe from the animal.
Arcadia chose the mesh size, shape, and finish to let as much light through as it can. Ordinary hardware mesh can block a lot more light and UV.

It covers our 36 in ProT5 kit and the matching LumenIZE kit. Match the guard to the length of your light so the whole lamp is covered, and measure another maker's fixture before you order. Measure the whole fixture rather than the tube, and leave room for the power and linking connectors.

Fitting it
Switch off the light and let it cool.
Hold the guard over the fixture so it covers the whole lamp, and check it clears the mounting clips and cable connections.
Fix it to the ceiling or wall of the enclosure at its four fixing points with the four screws included. Check first that they suit the thickness of your panel and that no tip will poke through where your animal can reach, and use other screws if your surface needs them.
Run the cable out through one of the cable entry points, and secure it where your animal cannot climb or pull on it.
To change a lamp later, remove two screws and swing the guard open on its hinges.
Close the guard securely, then check the UV index where your animal basks with the guard in place. Any mesh cuts some UV, so do not rely on readings taken without it.
Our advice
Wipe the mesh down as part of your monthly cleaning. Dust on the mesh cuts the light that gets through, and switch the light off first.

Does it block UVB?
A little, as any mesh does. About 85% of the light gets through.
Do I need one in a PVC cage?
If your animal could reach a light mounted inside the cage, yes. Lights inside a PVC cage are easy for climbers and snakes to get to.
Does it work with LumenIZE lights?
Yes. Arcadia says LampGuardPro suits both standard and LumenIZE-enabled systems.
Can my animal still climb on it?
It may climb on the guard, but the mesh keeps it off the lamp.
Are screws included?
Yes, four mounting screws. Check their length against the thickness of your panel before you fit them, and use other screws if your surface needs them.
Is a lamp or fixture included?
No, just the guard and its four screws. The light is sold separately.
Does the guard replace the lamp's minimum distance?
No. Keep to the lamp maker's minimum distance, and check the UV at every spot your animal can reach. Keep shaded retreats around the enclosure, and allow for branches or décor that let your animal climb closer to the light.
