Arcadia built the ProT5 as one system rather than a plain fluorescent fixture: the lamp, the reflector, and the electronics are matched to each other. You get a strong UV zone under the fixture with softer light spreading around it.

Who it suits
Medium to larger enclosures where you want a broad UV zone across much of the cage. Choose the lamp strength for your animal:

A higher percentage is not a better lamp. The right one depends on your species, the basking distance, the enclosure height, and any mesh between the lamp and the animal. Tell us your animal and enclosure and we will help you choose.
Setting it up
Mount the fixture over the main basking spot, and leave shaded, lower-UV areas so your animal can move out of the light.
Keep at least 250 mm (10 in) between the lamp and the closest point your animal can reach, which is Arcadia's minimum for ProT5.
Allow for any screen or mesh. It cuts the UV that reaches the animal, so a fixture over a mesh top gives less than the same fixture mounted inside the cage.
Check the UV index at the basking spot with a UV meter if you can, and raise or lower the lamp or basking spot to suit.
Run it on a timer for a steady day and night.
Arcadia's reflector throws the strongest UV straight down, making a basking zone about 30 cm (12 in) below the unit, and spreads softer light outwards around it. You can fix the ProT5 inside an enclosure, rest it on the mesh of a glass terrarium, hang it above, or hang it inside where it is safe.
Buying it with a new Cornel's World PVC cage? Choose the installation option when you add the light to your cart and we will mount it as part of your build. Inside a PVC cage the UV no longer passes through a screen, so choose the strength for the direct lamp to animal distance.
Guard it if your animal can reach it
If the fixture is inside the enclosure and your animal can climb to it, fit a LampGuardPro (RALGP4, sold as the 39 in) over it.

Does the UVB lamp come with it?
Yes. The kit includes the 39 W fixture, its reflector, and a 34 in Arcadia T5 HO lamp in the strength you choose.
Can I link more lights to it?
Yes. Up to 10 Arcadia light units can run from one power source, Jungle Dawn LED Bars included, and the kit comes with a link cable.
Can I use it over a mesh top?
Yes. Mesh reduces the UV that reaches your animal, so allow for it when you choose the strength and set the height.
Can you install it in my PVC cage?
Yes, when you buy it with a new Cornel's World PVC cage. Choose the installation option when you add the light to your cart.
