It is part of Zoo Med's Creatures range and is designed to run the Creatures LED and Creatures LED Black Light. The reflective inside aims the light and warmth down into the tank, so a small display gets a useful warm area without extra clutter.

What it takes

Zoo Med Creatures bulbs, or another small heat, daylight, or display bulb of 40 W or less.

Setting it up

  1. Screw the bulb in snugly, without over-tightening.

  2. Set the dome on a secure screen top, never inside the enclosure.

  3. Check the warm area with a thermometer or temperature gun.

  4. Raise the dome or swap to a lower-watt bulb if it runs too warm.

  5. Add a timer for a steady day and night cycle.

Our advice
Start with a low-watt bulb, then change one thing at a time while you watch the temperatures. That way you avoid big swings in a small tank.

Useful with it

Questions

Will it overheat my small terrarium?

It can if the bulb is too strong or the dome sits too close. Start low, measure, and adjust the height or bulb.

Can I use a dimmer or thermostat with it?

Often, yes. Make sure the controller suits your bulb type and wattage, and keep checking temperatures.

Can it go inside the enclosure?

No. It is for use outside only, on a secure screen lid.
