The glass itself is deep blue rather than painted or coated, which Zoo Med says transfers heat better. It is mainly a heat source: an economical way to keep a nocturnal animal warm while you watch it under a moonlit glow.

Will the light keep my animal awake?
Zoo Med made it to give a moonlight effect that does not upset sleeping patterns.
Does it give UVB or UVA?
No. It is a heat and night-viewing bulb. Use a separate UVB lamp for daytime UV.
