Each hood fits all of Zoo Med's Paludariums and Naturalistic Terraria of the same width, and its built-in reflector pushes more heat and UVB into the tank.

On the 18 in hood the two switches mean you can turn the UVB lamp off at night and leave the night heat on. Zoo Med suggests its Daylight Blue or Nightlight Red reptile bulbs as heat lamps.
Setting it up
Read and keep the instructions in the box. Zoo Med's warnings:
Do not exceed 60 W.
Not for basking spot (reflector) lamps or halogen lamps.
Indoors only; do not use in wet conditions.
Do not splice, repair, or modify it, and do not use a damaged cord; inspect it now and then.
Fully insert the plug and fully extend the cord before use.
Do not cover it with blankets, rugs, or anything else.
Keep children and pets, other than your terrarium animals, away from it.
Risk of fire
Stay within 60 W and never use reflector or halogen lamps in this hood.

Can I use a basking spot bulb?
No. Zoo Med says it is not for basking spot reflector lamps or halogen lamps. Use an incandescent heat lamp up to 60 W.
