The ShadeDweller's short lamp lights a defined UV zone rather than the whole cage, so your animal can move between the light and shade and choose its own exposure. The LumenIZE fixture adds smooth dimming, so the UV builds through the morning and fades toward evening instead of switching straight on and off.

Who it suits

Arcadia lists it as commonly used for these, when the installation and target UV index are right:

  • Leopard geckos

  • Crested geckos

  • Smaller day geckos

  • Some amphibian setups

  • Hatchling and smaller snake setups

  • Other reptiles needing a lower or more focused UV zone

For snakes and bigger cages that need a longer, gentler zone, look at the ShadeDweller Max.

The percentage is not the UV index
What reaches your animal depends on distance, mesh, mounting, and layout as much as the 7% figure. Measure the UV index at the basking spot with a UV meter.

Setting it up

  1. Mount the fixture over the area you want lit, leaving hides, plants, or cork to give shade elsewhere.

  2. Program the day in the LumenIZE app: sunrise, daytime level, and sunset.

  3. Measure the UV index where your animal basks and adjust height or output.

  4. Provide heat separately. This is a UVB light, not a heat source.

  5. Replace the lamp every 12 months; it can still glow after its UVB has dropped.

Questions

ShadeDweller or ShadeDweller Max?

The ShadeDweller uses an 8 W, 12 in lamp with 7% UVB. The Max uses a longer 14 W lamp with 2.5% UVB to light a broader area. Choose by species, target UV index, and cage.

Can I link it to a Jungle Dawn LED bar?

Yes, a LumenIZE Jungle Dawn bar adds plant light alongside the UVB. Use the right LumenIZE link cable, sold separately.

Can you fit it in a new cage?

Yes. Buy it with a new Cornel's World PVC cage and choose the installation option. We place it by species, target UV index, and cage height.
