What it takes

Because the dome extends past the bulb, the lamp does not stick out, and more of its UV is aimed into the enclosure instead of around the room.

Setting it up

  1. Fit the lamp with the fixture unplugged, and keep to 160 W or less.

  2. Place the dome over the basking area at the distance your UVB lamp's maker recommends.

  3. Check UVB at the basking spot with a meter if you have one, and temperatures with a thermometer.

Can I use a basking bulb instead of UVB?

Yes, any lamp up to 160 W. The deep dome is just designed with UVB lamps in mind.
