Spare fuses for the Herpstat Intro V2 and Intro+ V2, so a blown fuse does not leave your heat off while you wait for parts. Three 3.15 amp, fast-acting, 5 x 20 mm fuses, the rating Spyder Robotics specifies for these Version 2 models.

When a fuse blows, the thermostat loses power and so does the heat it controls. Keeping the right spare on hand means you can be running again as soon as the cause is fixed.

Replacing a fuse

A blown fuse is a sign of an overload, a short, or a power surge. The fuse sits inside the thermostat housing.

  1. Unplug the Herpstat from the wall, then unplug the heaters and other cables.

  2. Find what blew the fuse, such as an overloaded output, a damaged cord, or a failed heater, and fix it first.

  3. Check the spare: 3.15 A, 5 x 20 mm, fast-acting.

  4. Open the housing to reach the fuse, following the Spyder Robotics manual for your model. If you are not comfortable working inside electrical equipment, ask a qualified technician.

  5. Swap the fuse, make sure it is seated, and close the unit up.

  6. Plug back in, check the thermostat powers on, and watch the heaters hold temperature over a few cycles.

Find the cause first
A blown fuse usually means an overload, a short, or a power surge. Unplug everything before you replace it, never fit a higher-rated or slow-blow fuse or bypass the holder, and if the new fuse blows too, stop using the unit until the fault is found. If you are unsure, ask Spyder Robotics or a qualified technician.

Questions

Will these fit the original Herpstat Intro?

They are listed for the Version 2 models. Check your earlier Intro's manual for its fuse rating first, or ask us with your model.

Will they fit a Herpstat 1 or Herpstat 2?

No. The Herpstat 1 takes a 6.3 amp fuse and the Herpstat 2 an 8.0 amp fuse. We stock both.

Does a blown fuse mean my thermostat is broken?

Not necessarily. The fuse may have done its job and cut power before anything was damaged, but the fault that blew it still needs finding.
