A narrow five-level rack we build for ARS-50 tubs, with belly heat already in the shelves. It suits keepers who want five animals in a small footprint.

Pins will lock tubs in place. The holes will be a little tight but if you use pliers with a shelf pin its easy to widen the holes

Each level holds one ARS-50 tub, so every animal has its own tub and you can pull one out to clean it without disturbing the rest.

Who it suits

ARS-50 tubs can suit some ball pythons, colubrids, and other ground-dwelling reptiles, depending on their size. Check the tub gives your animal enough room, and whether it needs overhead heat, UVB, or a bigger enclosure instead.

  • 1/2 in PVC panels, moisture resistant and easy to wipe down, without the upkeep of unfinished wood.

  • Recessed heat tape channels machined into the shelves, so the tape sits where it should rather than loose under the tubs.

  • A probe slot at the rear of every shelf. We put the thermostat probe on the middle shelf, and check now and then that it has not moved.

  • Stacking up to three racks high. Keep the stack level and supported.

Tubs and heat

The rack takes ARS-50 tubs in clear or grey, with or without cup holders. Clear makes checks easier; grey gives a more enclosed tub.

Thermostat required
Run the heat tape only through a proportional thermostat, such as a Herpstat. Check temperatures inside every tub with a separate thermometer before you add animals. Look over the tape, probe, and connections now and then, and if you see damage, discolouration, or warping, disconnect it until it is repaired.
Our advice
In a basement, a concrete floor can cool the bottom level. Insulation under the rack can help, as long as it does not trap the heat from the tape.

Choosing your options

  • Assembled or flat packed. For a flat-packed rack, a battery drill or driver with a square-drive bit makes assembly easy.

  • Black or white PVC, the same rack either way.

  • Casters to roll the rack out for cleaning. Make sure it cannot move on its own.

  • Shelf pins to stop tubs sliding out by accident.

How do I put a flat-packed rack together?

Assemble the panels on a flat, level floor, lay the heat tape flat in its channels without folding or overlapping it, fit the top panel, then connect the thermostat and let the temperature settle before you check each tub.

Parcels across Canada and the US are priced at checkout from the packed boxes. Pallets and freight we price by hand, usually within one business day, and you pay nothing until you have seen the total. Pickup in Calgary is free.

Returns

14 day returns on eligible unused stock items, return shipping paid by the customer. Built-to-order goods are covered by the construction warranty rather than by returns. Restocking Fees Apply for returns
