What it is for

Hold a card under a fluorescent UV lamp and it changes from white towards purple according to the strength of the UVA and UVB reaching it, which gives you a quick check on the lamp.

How to use it

  1. Take a card out of its sleeve.

  2. Hold it under the lamp where your animal basks.

  3. Watch the colour change, and compare it over time as the lamp ages.

  4. Return it to the sleeve to keep it clean.

A check, not a reading
The card shows UV strength by colour. For a UV index number you can set your basking distance by, use a UV index meter.

Does it work with LED or mercury vapour UV lamps?

ReptiZoo lists it for fluorescent lamps. We have not confirmed it with other lamp types.

How long does a card last?

Up to 500 uses each, and there are two in the set.
