The bulb uses special UVB-transmitting quartz glass so more UVB gets through. UVB lets your animal make vitamin D3 and helps prevent metabolic bone disease, and UVA encourages feeding, mating, and other natural behaviour.

Who it suits
Zoo Med makes it for tropical reptiles and amphibians. For desert and basking species that need stronger UVB, the ReptiSun 10.0 Mini is the matching bulb.
Setting it up
Unplug the fixture and screw the bulb into a standard threaded socket.
Mount it upright in a dome or clamp lamp, or on its side in a hood. The reflector in a Mini Deep Dome helps the UVB reach further into the terrarium.
Make sure no glass or plastic sits between the bulb and your animal.
Contains mercury
Recycle the bulb under local disposal rules rather than putting it in household waste.

Does it give heat?
No. Zoo Med says it gives UVA and UVB without heat, so add a separate heat source if your animal needs one.
Which tropical animals is it for?
Zoo Med says all tropical species of reptiles and amphibians. Check your own species' UVB needs before you choose.
