Real basking heat from a small, efficient bulb. Arcadia's 35 W halogen flood often does the job of a 50 to 75 W standard tungsten floodlight, which makes it a good fit for smaller basking areas where a bigger bulb would overheat the cage.

  • 35 W PAR20 halogen, wide flood

  • E26 base, 110 to 120 V North American version

  • Infrared-A rich, warm 2750 K light

  • Dimmable on a dimming thermostat

  • No UVB

A built-in metal reflector sends the heat and light down to the basking area instead of out the sides, and a frosted lens spreads it evenly. The wide flood beam warms more of your reptile's body at once than a narrow spot would.

Who it suits

Reptiles that use daytime overhead heat but do not need a big bulb. The right choice still depends on the species, enclosure size, and room temperature.

  • Leopard geckos, with hides and a cool side to get away from the heat.

  • Small daytime lizards, such as some geckos and skinks.

  • Crested geckos and similar species, only where a cool room calls for gentle daytime heat. They overheat easily, so control it carefully.

  • Young basking lizards that need a smaller basking area than adults.

Setting it up

  1. Use a heat-rated ceramic E26 holder rated for at least 35 W and suitable for a PAR20 heat lamp.

  2. Mount it above the basking area where your reptile cannot touch the bulb. Inside the enclosure, that may mean a lamp guard.

  3. Connect a dimming thermostat and place the probe as its maker says.

  4. Let the enclosure reach its normal daytime temperature, then check the basking surface with an infrared thermometer and the air with a digital thermometer.

  5. Add a UVB fixture, such as an Arcadia ProT5, if your reptile needs UVB.

  6. Check the bulb and holder during routine care. Switch off and let it cool before touching it, and replace anything damaged straight away.

Our advice
Use a dimming thermostat rather than a pulse one. Dimming lowers the power smoothly, so the light does not flicker on and off through the day.

Questions

Will it work in Canada?

Yes. This version runs on 110 to 120 V and has a standard North American E26 base.

How much heat does 35 W give?

Arcadia says it can often replace a 50 to 75 W standard tungsten floodlight. Your enclosure and mounting distance decide the real temperature.

Does it give UVB?

No. It gives heat and visible light, so add a UVB fixture if your reptile needs one.

Is it right for a leopard gecko?

It works in many leopard gecko enclosures. The right wattage depends on enclosure size and room temperature, so measure the basking spot.

Floodlight or spotlight?

A flood spreads heat over a wider area. A spot focuses it into a smaller, hotter zone.

Can I use it at night?

No. It gives visible light, so it is for daytime. Use a heat source that gives no light at night.

Does it come with a lamp holder?

No. The box holds one bulb. The holder and thermostat are separate.
