Frequent misting puts a lot of water into an enclosure. A bulkhead gives it a set way out, which is far easier than siphoning or scooping standing water. The layout is simple: enclosure or drainage tray, then the bulkhead, then a drain line to a container or drain.
Do not drill to ¾ in
The ¾ in is the plumbing size. The fitting's body needs a 1½ in hole, so measure the bulkhead before you cut.
Fitting it
Plan the whole drain before drilling: the bulkhead, the drain line, and where the water ends up.
Place the drain where water naturally collects, with the outside plumbing easy to reach.
Cut a 1½ in hole in a flat surface and fit the bulkhead.
Connect your drain line or hose.
Test it with water before adding substrate, plants, or animals, while leaks are still easy to fix.
