Terra Flora is The BioDude's mix for enclosures that get very humid and stagnant. It holds the right amount of water and lets any excess pass straight through into the drainage layer. Its air pockets help roots develop and give springtails and isopods room to build a lasting population.

What it suits

Dart frogs, tree frogs, salamanders, and other rainforest reptiles and amphibians in planted, bioactive vivariums.

Setting it up

  1. Lay a drainage layer such as HydroGrow V2 on the floor, with a screen barrier over it.

  2. Add Terra Flora to the depth you want.

  3. Plant, add leaf litter, and add springtails or isopods.

  4. Mist as needed and keep an eye on humidity.

Care and cleaning

Spot clean waste and re-moisten areas that dry out. Once the clean-up crew is established, the bed usually only needs replacing when it compacts or the crew dies back.
