  • Sphagnum moss
  • Long fibre
  • Holds water
  • 50 g to 500 g

This sustainably farmed sphagnum balances structure and softness. The fibres lock around roots, poles, and hardscape but stay loose enough for roots to breathe, and the moss holds enough water that you water or mist less often.

Where to use it

  • Plants: refilling moss poles, rooting cuttings and air layering, adding to potting mix, and growing carnivorous plants.

  • Enclosures: a humidity layer in tropical terrariums, moist hides and shedding spots, a topper around plants in bioactive builds, and damp pockets in arboreal setups.

  • Décor: moss bowls, dish gardens, and top dressing for planters.

Setting it up

  1. Soak the moss in clean, lukewarm water for a few minutes until it is soft.

  2. Squeeze it until it is damp but not dripping.

  3. For a moss pole, pack it firmly around the frame and tie it with twine, tape, or netting so it touches the aerial roots.

  4. For potting, use it alone for cuttings or blend it into potting mix for aroids, tropicals, and carnivorous plants.

  5. In an enclosure, line hides or tuck it around hardscape and plants, and mist to keep it damp.

Never leave it waterlogged. Slightly damp and breathable is best for roots and for the enclosure. Each batch varies a little in fibre length, colour, and density.
