Coco fibre is ground coconut husk. Once hydrated it is soft enough for digging and burrowing, holds moisture for tropical setups, and takes up smells better than many basic beddings. The brick stores neatly until you need it.

What it suits

Setting it up

  1. Put the brick in a large tote, bin, or bucket.

  2. Add warm water a little at a time and let it soak for several minutes.

  3. Break it apart and fluff it as it expands, so there are no dry pockets.

  4. Add a little more water for a tropical setup, or let it air out for a drier finish.

  5. Spread it in the enclosure, and mix in leaf litter, soil, or sand as your species needs.

Care and cleaning

Damp, not soggy
Any organic substrate can grow mould if it stays wet with poor airflow. Keep it evenly moist rather than muddy, give the enclosure good ventilation, take out uneaten food, and spot clean often.

Questions

How wet should I keep it?

It depends on the species. For tropical animals keep it evenly moist. For drier species, hydrate it and let it dry down before use, or blend it with a drier substrate.

Is it right for my animal?

Not every animal does well on the same bed. Our substrate guide covers the basics, or tell us what you keep and we will suggest one.

Parcels across Canada and the US are priced at checkout from the packed boxes. Pallets and freight we price by hand, usually within one business day, and you pay nothing until you have seen the total. Pickup in Calgary is free.

Returns

14 day returns on eligible unused stock items, return shipping paid by the customer. Built-to-order goods are covered by the construction warranty rather than by returns. Restocking Fees Apply for returns
