The ceramic soaks up water from the reservoir and slowly releases it, so the cave stays humid and evens out swings in temperature and moisture. Exo Terra says the moist microclimate supports temperature regulation, hydration, and shedding, and that good humidity helps prevent respiratory infections. Add moistened Exo Terra Forest Moss or sphagnum moss and it becomes an egg-laying site for many species.
