Use it as the main substrate layer, on its own or with cork bark, hides, and leaf litter. Pack it firmer for species that dig a stable burrow, or fluff the top for a looser surface.

Humidity
Holds moisture; set it from dry to lightly moist for the species

What it suits

  • Tarantulas, especially species that like stable burrowing material.

  • Burrowing invertebrates, when you give them enough depth.

  • Temperate and tropical species, with the moisture matched to the animal.

  • Bioactive terrariums and paludariums, planned with the right airflow and cleanup crew.

What it's made of

  • Shredded cypress gives structure and keeps the mix open.

  • Peat moss holds moisture and adds texture.

  • Sand firms the mix so it holds its shape.

  • Black earth gives it a natural soil base.

It is a natural blend, so texture and colour vary a little from batch to batch.

Setting it up

  1. Fill to the depth your species needs to burrow.

  2. Pack it lightly or firmly, depending on how much structure you want.

  3. Add hides, cork bark, wood, and anchor points for webbing.

  4. Set the moisture for the species, from dry areas to a lightly moist lower layer.

  5. Spot clean regularly and replace it as needed.

Questions

Is it good for burrowing species?

Yes. It holds its structure better than many loose substrates, which is why keepers choose it for burrowers.

Can I use it for tropical species?

Yes, with the moisture managed. It absorbs water and helps keep humidity steady.

Does it contain chemical additives?

No. It is made from natural materials only.
