Zoo Med Repti Calcium with D3 in 3 oz and 8 oz jars

Many feeder insects carry more phosphorus than calcium, so keepers gutload them and dust them with calcium before feeding. Repti Calcium with D3 adds calcium without adding phosphorus, and the D3 helps the body regulate and use that calcium. A supplement cannot fix poor temperatures, weak UVB, or an unbalanced diet; it supports a care plan that already has those right.

Examples

Insect-eating reptiles

Leopard geckos, chameleons, anoles, day geckos, young bearded dragons, and skinks

Omnivores and herbivores

Bearded dragons, tegus, some turtles, tortoises, iguanas, and uromastyx

The 3 oz jar suits a smaller collection; the 8 oz lasts longer for more animals or frequent feeding.

How to use it

  1. Put the feeder insects in a clean container.

  2. Add a small amount of powder.

  3. Shake or roll gently until they have a light, even coat.

  4. Offer them soon after dusting. Smooth insects like mealworms and superworms hold less powder, so feed those quickly.

  • Greens: sprinkle lightly over suitable vegetables and mix so it spreads evenly.

  • Prepared diets: check first whether the diet already has calcium or D3.

How often depends on the species, age, diet, health, breeding condition, and UVB exposure, so follow the label and a schedule made for your animal. Keepers with good UVB often alternate this with Repti Calcium without D3. Owning a UVB lamp is not the same as good exposure: strength, distance, mesh, and placement all change what reaches the animal.

Watch the total D3
More D3 is not better. Many multivitamins also contain D3, so check every label before combining supplements. A D3 powder does not replace UVB for species that need it.

Keep the lid tight and the jar cool and dry, out of sunlight and heat. Use clean, dry tools, never return used powder to the jar, and throw out any that has touched food, insects, or moisture. Keep out of reach of children and pets.

What's in it

Questions

Can I use it at every feeding?

Not every animal needs D3 at every feed. Set the schedule around your animal's UVB and any other supplements you use.

Is it made from oyster shells?

No. Zoo Med uses precipitated calcium carbonate.

Can it replace UVB lighting?

No. Keep suitable UVB for species that need or benefit from it.
