Compressed coconut chips that expand into a chunky, airy bed for tropical reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates. The chips hold a lot of water, release it slowly, and resist packing down, so humidity stays steady without the bed turning to mud.

Eco Earth Coconut Chips are coarse pieces of coconut husk. They hold up to eight times their dry weight in water, let air through, and drain well. Use them on their own for humidity-loving species, or mix them into a bioactive soil.

What it suits

Tropical reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates, and humid or bioactive terrariums. The chips are coarser than Eco Earth Coconut Fiber, which is finer and better for humid hides and plant mixes.

Setting it up

  1. Soak the brick in a bucket of water for about 30 minutes.

  2. Break up any chunks left and squeeze out the extra water.

  3. Add it to the enclosure on its own, or mix it with other substrates.

  4. For a drier habitat, let the expanded chips dry, then mist or add water as needed.

Care and cleaning

Spot clean every day and change the whole bed every 3 to 6 months, or sooner if it needs it. Used chips can be composted or put into potted plants.
