This is cleaned and compressed forest moss. Once hydrated it expands into a grassy, natural ground cover, and the fibres interlock, so you can tuck it around branches, rocks, and hardscape without it falling apart.

Our advice

Use it as a top layer or in set humid spots rather than as the whole substrate, so your animal can choose how much damp it sits on.

Setting it up

Soak the moss in clean water for a few minutes until it has expanded and softened.
Squeeze out the excess and pull the fibres apart into loose clumps.
Arrange it on the substrate, around hardscape, or in hides. For décor, fix it with pins, wire, or glue.
Mist as needed to keep it slightly damp in humid areas, and do not leave it waterlogged.

Each bag varies in fibre length, colour, and density, and small bits of forest material are normal. Pick through it if you want a cleaner look in a display.
