What it suits

Many keepers use it for leopard geckos and bearded dragons. Whether it suits yours depends on the animal's age, your husbandry, and how you feed, so ask us if you are unsure.

Choosing a size

Size	Best for

Setting it up

Choose a depth. Many setups start at 1 to 3 in, and digging species need more.
Pack it for a firmer base, or fluff it for a looser layer.
Add hides, rocks, and cork.
Make zones, such as a dry area and a humid hide if your species needs one.
Spot clean often and replace it as needed.

Our advice

Feed from a dish or a set feeding area so your animal is less likely to swallow substrate with its food.

Can I use it in a bioactive setup?

Yes, if you plan the ventilation, add leaf litter, and keep humid pockets under control so it stays fresh.
