The Cornel’s World Heat Panel Probe Calibration Mount provides a secure mounting point for thermostat probes used with radiant heat panels.
Correct probe placement is important for reliable temperature control. However, loose probes can shift when reptiles move around the enclosure.
Therefore, this mount holds the thermostat probe in a consistent position approximately 4–6 inches below the radiant heat panel.
A thermostat controls your radiant heat panel based on the temperature detected by its probe. As a result, probe location can affect how the thermostat regulates the heat source.
For this reason, keeping the probe securely positioned helps create a more consistent setup.
In addition, the mount helps prevent an animal from moving the probe during normal activity.
The probe cord passes through the rear PVC wall. Therefore, unnecessary wiring remains outside the enclosure.
As a result, the finished installation is cleaner and reduces exposed wiring inside the animal’s enclosure.
Furthermore, the built-in strain relief helps prevent the probe from being accidentally pulled out of position.
The mount includes a dedicated strain relief groove for the thermostat probe cord.
Consequently, an accidental pull on the cord is less likely to move the probe itself.
In addition, this feature helps keep the probe positioned correctly during routine enclosure maintenance.
Each probe mount is 3D printed using PETG. Therefore, the finished mount provides a durable structure for its intended application.
However, the mount should not contact the radiant heat panel directly.
The internal mounting post can be replaced if necessary. In addition, the post ships uninstalled to reduce the possibility of damage during shipping.
Therefore, you simply install the post while setting up the mount.
Thermostat probes vary in size. Therefore, we offer different probe mount configurations.
Select the Herpstat version when using a compatible Herpstat thermostat probe.
For example, the mount can be paired with Herpstat thermostats controlling a ReptiRad radiant heat panel.
A separate configuration is available for compatible Vivarium Electronics thermostat probes.
Therefore, select your thermostat probe type when ordering to ensure the correct fit.
Exo Terra probes are larger than the probes used with the current versions. As a result, an Exo Terra-specific version requires a different design.
An Exo Terra version is currently in development.
The probe mount was originally designed for our 1/2-inch PVC reptile enclosures. However, versions are also available for thinner PVC.
Therefore, select the correct PVC thickness when ordering.
Installation requires a 3/8-inch hole through the rear PVC wall of the enclosure.
Before drilling, determine where the thermostat probe should be positioned in relation to your radiant heat panel.
First, select a position approximately 4–6 inches below the radiant heat panel.
In addition, make sure the probe will not touch the heat panel or interfere with enclosure furnishings.
Next, drill a clean 3/8-inch hole through the rear PVC wall.
However, always check the opposite side before drilling to ensure there are no wires or other components behind the selected location.
Next, position the mount through the prepared hole.
Then, route the thermostat probe cord through the mount.
Place the probe into the recessed mounting position. Then, route the cord through the built-in strain relief.
As a result, the probe remains securely positioned while unnecessary wiring stays outside the enclosure.
Finally, connect your thermostat and radiant heat panel according to the manufacturers’ instructions.
Allow the enclosure to reach a stable temperature. Then, verify temperatures with independent measuring equipment before introducing your reptile.
The probe mount secures the thermostat sensor. However, it does not replace a thermostat or independent temperature monitoring equipment.
The package includes the Cornel’s World probe mounting components for your selected configuration.
However, the thermostat, thermostat probe and radiant heat panel are not included unless purchased separately.
ReptiRad radiant heat panels provide overhead heat for PVC reptile enclosures.
In addition, pairing your panel with a securely mounted thermostat probe creates a cleaner installation.
Herpstat thermostats provide proportional control for compatible reptile heating equipment.
Furthermore, purchasing a qualifying Herpstat with the probe mount reduces the probe mount price to $19.99.
It securely positions a thermostat probe below a radiant heat panel. Therefore, the probe is less likely to move during normal enclosure use.
We recommend positioning the probe approximately 4–6 inches below the radiant heat panel.
Yes. Simply select the Herpstat-compatible version when ordering.
Yes. A compatible Vivarium Electronics probe version is also available.
Not currently. Exo Terra probes are larger. Therefore, a separate version is being developed.
Installation requires a 3/8-inch hole through the PVC enclosure wall.
Yes. Versions are available for selected 1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″ PVC walls.
No. The thermostat and probe are sold separately.
Add the probe mount and a qualifying ReptiRad Heat Panel or Herpstat thermostat to your cart. Then, the probe mount discount is automatically applied when the qualifying products are in the cart.
